New Zealand enjoyed a net population gain from migration flows of 15,800 people over the calendar year 2022.

Faster population growth means more demand for accommodation and that means upward pressure on rents and upward pressure on prices from two main sources.

Factors supporting the housing market turning later this year are strengthening.
