Almost all of the country is participating, with sales up by double-digits or more in all markets outside Quebec (that market is not weak by any means). Meanwhile, 22 of 26 major markets have seen the average transactions price rise by double-digits, with 20%-to-40% gains common, with some locations rising as high as 50%.

You cannot tax your way to more houses or lower prices.
Unfortunately I don’t think the current NZ government will care if more tax works or not, they’ll bring in more taxes anyway and prices and rents will continue to rise as they aren’t doing anything about supply.
Canada has a shortage of supply, low interest rates and lots of cheap money, just like NZ. Inventing new taxes won’t change that.
